School Prospectus

This section of the website is under Development.

Sorry!

Here is a copy of the school's Prospectus and Application Forms for your child(ren) to be taught at St Mary's R.C. Primary School, Chepstow. These forms are for children entering any class, not just Reception Class.

The prospectus is a formal document that tells you about the school, what it is aiming to achieve and how it intends to reach these achievements. The best way to really understand the school and how it works is to arrange a visit to the school during school hours so that you can see for yourself and make your own, informed views about the school and what part it can play in your child's education. Please call 01291 623006, email the headteacher Mike Gorell at mikegorell@monmouthshire.gov.uk, or write to St Mary's R.C. Primary School, Old Bulwark Road, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, NP16 5JE.

When trying to choose the right school for your child it is easy to focus on only the academic achievements and abilities of a school, but academic education is only a part of your child's education. At St Mary's we not only achieve above average academic results, but we pride ourselves in providing a complete and rounded Catholic education, enhancing the education your child is receiving in the home environment. Other areas to consider are behaviour, manners, understanding right and wrong, tolerance of other peoples views and beliefs, how others should be treated, public reading, sports and exercise. This is not an exhaustive list but does highlight some of the other areas we need to consider when choosing a school for our child(ren).

St Mary's also provides a before school 'Breakfast Club' and an afterschool club called 'SMASH' to care for your child(ren) at either end of the day. Breakfast club starts at 08:15 in the morning and SMASH ends at 17:30 - giving your child full supervision throughout the day. These clubs can be used on a full-time basis or on a casual bases depending on your individual needs and requirements.

The prospectus is broken down into it's component parts which can be downloaded individually. The full prospectus is also at the bottom of this page if you would like to download it as one complete document. We hope you find them interesting and useful, but more than that we hope you will come and visit the school as this is the only way to see the full picture.

At the very bottom of the page you will find some extracts from our most recent Estyn Report (Estyn is the Welsh equivalent of Ofsted - the government schools inspection department). As a Catholic school a Catholic Church inspection is carried out by the church at the same time as the Estyn inspection. Their findings are also included here.
